PATRICK HEALY
Patrick Healy (b. 1955, Dublin) is an Irish writer, philosopher, translator, and painter who has made Amsterdam his base for many years. With a background in philosophy and languages, he has published widely on aesthetics, architecture, and literature, and earned recognition for his translation of Karl Kraus’s The Last Days of Mankind. Healy is also noted for his striking recordings of Finnegans Wake and Hilarius Hofstede’s De Markies van Water, which display his rare command of language and voice.
His most recent novel, Beyond the Pale (November Editions, 2025), is a daring and lyrical exploration of memory, identity, and the music of Irish speech, hailed as a bold contribution to contemporary literary fiction. Readers can discover more about Healy’s work — both literary and artistic — on his own website, and through interviews on the Creative Process and Cassandra’s Voices platforms, where he also reads passages from Beyond the Pale while the work was still in manuscript form.
